The plaque reads:

Alison Uttley, née Alice Jane Taylor (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976) was a British writer of over 100 books.
Alison was born and educated in Derbyshire before gaining a physics scholarship to Manchester University.
She then trained to be a teacher. Alison lived in Bowdon for 14 years.
After the death of her husband in 1930, Alison began to write for financial reasons.
Her first books included Little Grey Rabbit and Sam Pig. Alison later wrote stories for older children and adults.
There is also a Blue Plaque recognising Alison at The Old Vicarage, King Street / Drury Lane, Knutsford (WA16 6EJ) where she lived around 1910.
